Privacy Policy

ChuckNote is built with privacy as a default. Your notes stay on your device. We don't run servers, we don't have accounts, and we don't sell your data.
What we collect
ChuckNote does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. All notes, attachments, drawings, and location pins are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. There are no ads, no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services, and no third-party data sharing of any kind.
Location
If you choose to pin a note to a place, ChuckNote requests your precise location to attach coordinates to that note. This data stays entirely on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. Location access is requested only when you explicitly initiate a pin, using the iOS "When In Use" permission level.
Photos and attachments
ChuckNote allows you to attach photos and files to your notes. Photos are selected through Apple's privacy-preserving system photo picker (PHPickerViewController), which does not require access to your full photo library and does not expose your library to the app. Any photos or files you attach are stored locally on your device as part of your note data. We never access, transmit, or process your photos or files.
Drawings
ChuckNote includes a drawing and sketching tool powered by Apple's PencilKit framework. All drawing data is stored locally on your device as part of your notes. No drawing data is transmitted externally.
In-app web search
ChuckNote includes an optional feature that lets you tap a selected word to look it up in a web search. When used, this opens your device's default browser (Safari) with a Google Search query for that word. ChuckNote itself does not send any data to Google or any other search provider — the action is handled entirely by your browser. Standard browser and search engine privacy policies apply to those requests.
Onboarding survey
ChuckNote asks a few optional questions during onboarding (use case, experience level, goal). Your answers are stored locally on your device in UserDefaults and are never transmitted anywhere.
iCloud backup
Your notes may be included in your iCloud backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device. This is controlled entirely by your iOS settings and Apple's iCloud service. Apple's privacy policy governs how iCloud data is handled.
Third-party SDKs
ChuckNote uses no third-party SDKs, analytics libraries, advertising networks, or crash-reporting services. The only external network request the app makes is the optional user-initiated browser search described above, which is handled by your browser — not by ChuckNote.
App Store privacy nutrition label
ChuckNote's App Store privacy label declares one data type: Precise Location, collected for App Functionality, not linked to your identity, and not used for tracking. No other data is declared because no other data is collected. This policy is consistent with that declaration.
Your data and how to delete it
Because all your data lives on your device, you are always in full control of it. You can:
- Delete individual notes from within the app at any time.
- Delete all notes at once via Settings → Delete All Notes.
- Remove all app data permanently by deleting the ChuckNote app from your device.
We have no copy of your data on any server, so there is nothing we can retrieve or delete on your behalf. If you have questions, contact us at chuckchuckapps@gmail.com.
Children
ChuckNote is not directed at children under 13 and is rated 4+ on the App Store for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app, please note that no personal data is transmitted to us regardless, and any locally stored notes can be removed by deleting the app.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may add a notice within the app.
